ALUMNI MORNING TEA

WAPPA is looking forward to hosting a Morning Tea for Alumni members on Wednesday, 26 June at the Business Centre. It's a great opportunity for members to catch up with friends, colleagues and acquaintances, whilst hearing about what has been happening in and around WAPPA. Members will also get to peruse our recently converted Library and Memorabilia Room, which hosts a wide range of interesting reads, WAPPA memorabilia and artefacts. Members who have used the WAPPA Business Centre in recent times have taken a great interest in looking through the various resources.

* Please note, the event will be held upstairs.
STATE ASSEMBLY
Thank you to all Chapter Chairs and Board Members who attended State Assembly last week. The two days were filled with productive discussions regarding the work of WAPPA, reviewing the Member Survey in order to start developing a new Strategic Plan, and also hearing some updates from Department personnel on key issues such as Psychological Safety in Schools. Thank you to everyone who provided input to these topics through your Chapter Chair. The State Assembly Report is currently being finalised and will be sent to all Chapter Chairs for distribution. This report will include all slides from the two days, which will allow Chapter Chairs to provide further information to members upon request.
Curtin University Pre-Service Teacher Placements

In the last copy of WORDS, we sought member support in placing a large number of pre-service teachers. Curtin University were extremely grateful and reported back, that all places were filled. They have again sought our support in trying to place a new group of pre-service teachers, as per the following requirements:

  • Bachelor of Education Primary (2nd year students) Year 1-6 placements required
  • Professional Experience 1 - (4th June – 14th June) with students returning
  • Professional Experience 2 - (21st October – 8th November)

The list of locations spans 44 suburbs from Atwell to Willetton, so there is a good chance that a pre-service teacher residing close to you, is looking for an opportunity to learn in an outstanding local Government primary school.

NEW COLLEGIAL GROUPS

WAPPA has successfully established two new Collegial Groups in the last year and we are proud to see that these groups have maintained membership and momentum and are now operating independently.

We are currently in the process of establishing another new Collegial Group, which is open to members and non members.

If you are interested in attending the first meeting of this new group on Monday, 24 June, please contact Angie at the Business Centre aossy-orley@wappa.net.au

STANDARDS AND INTEGRITY PL

This PL is essential content for all school leaders. Gain valuable insights directly from the SID team about leading cultures of integrity, setting high expectations for staff behaviour and integrating conduct into performance management. These workshops will provide critical self-reflection opportunities for PPR and whole school self-assessment opportunities for PSR.

Members will be able to attend in person or online. Workshops will be held from 9.00am-12.00 which will include morning tea.

Members are encouraged to attend all three workshops, given the complimentary nature of the content across sessions. Click the link below for more details and to register.

LEADERS' LIBRARY and SHARED RESOURCES

Some members may recall a time when WAPPA sent hard copy lever arch files with quarterly inserts. This file was known as the WAPPA Leaders’ Library. As technology has become such a prominent part of our lives and members now frequently turn to a variety of platforms to find resources, WAPPA is bringing back the Leaders’ Library, in a web-based format.

WAPPA will now seek specific resources from members, who are happy to share their work, to be filed and catalogued in the Member Profile section on the WAPPA website: www.wappa.asn.au/login
Ideas may include:

  • Planning Templates, Timetables, Business Plans, Risk Plans, Performance Management Documents, Teaching and Learning Playbooks…the possibilities are endless.
We have recently added a small number of files to this section, but the potential growth for these documents is quite limitless. The building of the Leaders’ Library will be overseen by Meg (our Comms Officer) and Angie (our Member Services Officer) and is a direct response to feedback in the recent Member Survey regarding the accessibility of sample documents designed to reduce workload and increase connectivity, networking and support.

If you have documents you would like to submit to share with your colleagues, please email them to Meg, mheller@wappa.net.au.
