CHAPTER CHAIR ROLES FILLED

WAPPA put a call out for nominations for 10 Chapter Chairs at the start of this year and seven of these positions have been filled, with the remaining three Chapters requiring an election to finalise the new Chapter Chair. As stated previously, it is wonderful to see members express an interest in taking on this role. It is vitally important to the communications and governance structures within WAPPA, that Chapter Chairs can play a role in being a conduit of information and supporting our planning and operations. We will finalise the names of all Chapter Chairs and publish them in the next edition of WORDS. In the meantime, you may hear from your Chapter Chair, as they start to share WAPPA information and also confirm the presence of all members within their Chapters.

DEPUTY PRINCIPAL VOICE ON THE BOARD

At our last WAPPA Board Meeting, the Board voted unanimously to co-opt two Deputy Principals onto the WAPPA Board for 2024. Deputy Principals play a vital role on the Board and throughout the Association, with Deputy Principal numbers now at approximately 47% of all ‘Active Ordinary Members’. This year, we would like to welcome to the WAPPA Board, Jade Aim, Kelmscott PS and Kylee Weadley, Albany PS.

Advocacy & Support

CONNECTION & LEADERSHIP

Members may have seen in yesterday’s Ed-email, a link to resources to supplement the Connect and Respect Initiative. WAPPA welcomes these resources and we provided significant input into their development based on our members’ feedback. Multiple pressure points led to these resources being developed, such as data from the annual National Principal Health and Wellbeing Survey.
