WAPPA 2024 Conference: Infinite Possibilities for Aspirant Leaders

Attending the WAPPA 2024 Conference was an eye-opening experience that truly lived up to its theme: Infinite Possibilities. Unlike the typical ‘teacher professional learning,’ this event went beyond education, exploring how we as leaders can shape society through education and how societal shifts are reshaping our schools.

I was especially inspired by Gihan Perera, who challenged us to turn chaos into clarity, and Dr. Tom Brunzell from Berry Street, whose insights on student wellbeing resonated deeply with my beliefs, particularly in today’s age of rapid technological advancement. These talks reminded me that leadership isn’t just about managing schools—it’s about understanding the bigger picture and guiding our communities through change.

The conference wasn’t all serious though! The Gala Dinner’s Barbie and Ken theme brought plenty of fun and laughter, with a sea of pink on display. And of course, the networking opportunities were immense. I connected with so many inspiring leaders who were generous with their insights and advice.

For any aspiring leaders, I highly recommend speaking to your principals about attending next year’s conference where we will be ‘Illuminating Leadership’.
