THE BOARD AND EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE

The Board plays a pivotal role in the leadership and stewardship of the Association, setting the vision and strategic direction while ensuring adherence to principles of good governance. It holds ultimate accountability for the financial sustainability and legal compliance of the organisation, acting as both a guide and a champion for the interests of its members.

Board members are elected by the WAPPA membership under the guidelines established in Part 5, Division 3 of the Constitution. This democratic process ensures that the Board remains representative of the diverse voices within the primary education community.

The Board is composed of individuals who are not only experienced leaders in primary education, but also, deeply connected to the daily challenges and triumphs of school leadership. Many actively serve in leadership roles within primary schools, providing them with firsthand insights into the evolving needs of students, educators and school communities.

In addition to their governance responsibilities, Board members actively contribute to professional development and knowledge-sharing by facilitating Professional Communities. These groups provide platforms for members to engage collaboratively, share expertise and address emerging issues in primary education. By leading these forums, Board members foster a culture of continuous learning, support and innovation within the Association’s community.

This collective expertise enables the Board to advocate effectively for primary education, foster professional growth among members and contribute to the advancement of educational excellence. United by a shared commitment to the profession, the Board embodies a dynamic blend of experience, innovation and dedication, driving the Association’s mission forward.
