Figures quoted above are based on the top of each current salary levels, as of December 2024. Deferred Salary and Fee Contributions If you are on deferred salary, here’s how it will work:
  • During Years 1–4 of deferred salary, members earn 80% of their regular salary. Consequently, the WAPPA fee collected is 0.8% of this reduced salary.
  • In Year 5, although no active work is performed, the fee contribution (0.8% of 80% salary) simply balances out the reduced contributions from the previous four years.
  • Over the full five years, the total fees paid equal what a member would have paid in a four-year period.
  • This ensures that members on deferred salary contribute equitably over the life of the program.
