Wellness Workshop for WAPPA Members
Last year I travelled to Sri Lanka and was fortunate to meet the two, amazing people below. Ishara and Bernardo are currently in Perth and have offered to run a free workshop/information session/question and answer session for WAPPA members.
Ishara and Bernardo will provide an overview of their “VIBRANT MIND AND HEALTH - the 6 Dimensions of Wellness and Wellbeing” workshop.
During the session, Ishara will provide an overview to the 6 dimensions of wellness and wellbeing using a holistic approach encompassing the body, mind and soul. She will then speak about how these principles can be incorporated into your current daily life.
Bernardo will follow up with a meditation extracted from Buddhist teachings of Kindness and compassion and end with a yogic relaxation.
The objective of the workshop is to provide some tangible action points which can be implemented immediately to improve your health and wellbeing.

Background
Ishara is the Founder and Managing Director of Plantation Villa, a nature wellness retreat centre specialising in Yoga, Meditation and Ayurveda. Once a successful banker in London, UK, Ishara turned away from Western medicine and turned to Ayurveda to heal herself when diagnosed with Cancer at the age of 29. After her healing, Ishara went in search of answers on how to be healthy, improve her wellbeing and to find happiness. Her learnings transformed her life and her outlook on life. She quit her banking life and moved to Sri Lanka to open Plantation Villa, a retreat centre which completely focusses on others: guests, staff, community and environment. The centre combines Buddhism, Ayurveda and Yoga to achieve a healthier mind and body. Plantation Villa is linked to the charity The Metta Trust and profits are filtered in to the Trust to do community development and nature preservation work. Ishara has been invited as an inspirational speaker to many international events.
Bernardo has been practicing and teaching Yoga for over 8 years. His teaching style is based on traditional Hatha Yoga, but also applies his knowledge of other forms of Yoga, including Therapeutic, Alignment, Vinyasa, Kundalini and Nidra. His perspective is that Yogasanas, the postures, and its combinations and transitions should provide a balanced – strong, supple and aligned - and healthy body. He also brings training of the breath, which focusses upon the correct pattern of inhalation and exhalation for each posture and the gradual enrichment of the quality of the breath. By using his knowledge of Mind and Meditation, Bernardo guides students to enter a space where the mind is able to settle. After owning his studio and teaching in his homeland Brazil, for the past two years Bernardo started traveling to different countries.
