Leading Whole School Numeracy Planning
Program Overview:
Based around the work and thoughts of Dr Paul Swan, this workshop will provide participants with a framework for developing a Whole School Numeracy Plan. The plan will focus on improved numeracy practices for teachers, with the aim of improving outcomes and practices for students.
Who will benefit:
Principals, deputy principals, senior leadership teams, school leaders and curriculum leaders will benefit from attending this one day workshop.
Content:
- Participants will engage with latest research conducted by Peter Sullivan regarding the teaching of Mathematics.
- The iStar model of explicit teaching of a numeracy block.
- Paul Swan learning trajectories and exemplars of WSNP for other schools.
Learning Outcomes:
Participants will be able to:
- Be provided with key questions to undertake discussions
with staff around Whole School Numeracy Planning, along with examples of a numeracy block.
- Examine a whole school assessment matrix will be also presented for discussion.
- Develop an action plan utilising the day’s information.
