On Saturday, March 15, Ongerup Primary School proudly celebrated 75 years on its current site, welcoming over 150 past and present students, staff, and community members. The day was a heartfelt tribute to the school’s rich history, dating back to the original East Ongerup School in 1914, and acknowledged the many small schools that once dotted the local area.
Guests enjoyed a moving student performance of a specially written school song, the planting of a memorial tree, the sharing of memories through student-led interviews, and the unveiling of a detailed historical timeline. The celebration concluded with an “old school fete,” where Year 3–6 students ran their own market stalls, raising over $1,000 towards painting the classrooms. The event was a powerful reminder of the deep intergenerational connections within this proud and supportive school community.
